One of the things that makes MSD of Warren Township special is watching our students turn curiosity into leadership—and Warren Central senior Isaiah Gilbert is doing just that.
Isaiah recently helped launch Warren Central’s very first chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), turning a longtime love of building into something that benefits his classmates as well. “I really liked building a lot,” Isaiah shared, tracing his interest back to Legos and early engineering programs that opened his eyes to how big the field really is.
Now a senior, Isaiah plans to study either chemical or aerospace engineering, drawn to the creativity and problem-solving that engineering offers. “You can draw something up, make it, and then it’s tangible—it’s something you created,” he said.
That same creative mindset pushed him to start NSBE after realizing Warren Central didn’t yet have a chapter. The journey wasn’t easy—there were setbacks along the way—but seeing the club officially come together made it all worth it.
Today, NSBE is giving students hands-on experiences, from bridge-building challenges to future aerospace projects, while exposing them to different engineering careers. Isaiah’s goal is simple: help students explore their interests and find their path.
It’s a great reminder of what happens when students are encouraged to dream, lead, and build something lasting.
