Dear Warren Families,
We are writing to share an important update regarding the recent investigation involving the former dance team coach and the incident that occurred on September 18.
At its meeting last night, the Board of Education voted to cancel the educator’s contract with the district. This decision follows the completion of a comprehensive internal review and our full cooperation with local authorities and agencies. As previously shared, several student-athletes sustained injuries connected to the event under investigation.
We know this has been a difficult time for many in our community. There are a range of feelings and perspectives around this situation. While not everyone may agree with the outcome, our collective focus must continue to be on the wellbeing of our students and the steps we need to take to move forward together.
Please know that counseling and support services remain available for any student or family member who needs them. Additionally, district staff continue to meet with the impacted families to offer support.
We are also reviewing and strengthening our expectations for all coaches and advisors to help ensure a safe and positive environment for every student, whether in the classroom or while participating in extracurricular activities.
We believe the decision made reflects our commitment to accountability and to prioritizing student safety and care in every decision we make. Thank you for your continued support as we work to heal and rebuild together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tim Hanson

Dear Warren Township Community,
We are writing to let you know that the MSD of Warren Township acknowledges the allegations involving the treatment of student-athletes by a dance team coach.
We want our community to know that we take this situation very seriously and are conducting an internal investigation and fully cooperating with local authorities. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and the fact that there is potential litigation, we cannot share further details at this time.
Please know that the coach submitted and we accepted her resignation from the coaching position earlier this week. We are unable to comment further as this is an ongoing personnel matter. What we can say is that we will address the matter adhering to our policies and procedures while reflecting our local values.
We are deeply saddened by this report, and our priority is to support our students. Counselors and district staff are available for students and families who may need assistance. Moving forward, the district will continue to provide support to those impacted and will review health and coaching standards, policies, and practices with all coaches and advisors to help ensure that an incident like this does not happen again.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we work to regain your trust and maintain a safe, supportive, and positive environment for every student.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tim Hanson
