In an ongoing effort to spotlight new leaders in our district, we are thrilled to introduce Chief James Northington II as the new Chief of Police for the MSD Warren Township Police Department. Chief Northington brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to safety, making him a valuable addition to our school district.
"My primary goal as a Public Safety professional is to create a safe campus environment for students, staff, and visitors by establishing a culture of fair and impartial policing through partnerships and community engagement," says Chief Northington.
Chief Northington's public safety career began in 1997 as a Juvenile Probation Officer. He has held various impactful positions, including Captain of Operations for the Indiana University Police Department. His extensive background includes strategic and operational leadership for lieutenants, shift sergeants, and uniformed patrol officers.
Chief Northington joined us in February 2024.
Chief Northington's dedication to professional excellence is exemplified by his affiliations with organizations such as the FBI National Academy Association, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, the IMPD Leadership Academy Alumni Association, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
"Teaching in whatever capacity is something I enjoy. As such, I embrace the challenges and opportunities associated with policing in urban school districts. It is an honor to be a part of the Marion School District of Warren Township as MSD Warren has established itself locally and nationally as a school community and institution committed to civic engagement and the intellectual growth of its students and citizens."
