Meet Paula Bell, the New Principal at Grassy Creek Elementary
From the moment young Paula Bell stepped into her Kindergarten classroom, she knew she wanted to make a difference. Inspired by her teacher's kindness, humor, and ability to make every student feel special, Paula set her sights on a career in education. "I wanted to be just like her when I grew up," Paula recalls. This dream stayed with her, as she continued her journey through Cadet Teaching in high school and numerous roles in education while attending Indiana University. Her experiences ranged from Pre-school Supervisor and Summer Camp Counselor to substitute teacher and Club Leader at the Banneker Community Center in Bloomington, IN.
Passion for Education
Paula’s commitment to education is reflected in her diverse professional background. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, she began as an Instructional Assistant and Interventionist for grades K-6. Her classroom experience expanded as she taught Kindergarten and 2nd Grade at Fairview Elementary Artful Learning School. Driven by a desire to impact even more students, Paula pursued a Master’s Degree and Principal Licensure at the University of Indianapolis, graduating in December 2016.
Her move to Indianapolis marked a significant chapter in her career. At Skiles Test STEM and Dual Language Elementary School, Paula thrived as a first-grade teacher and Instructional Coach. Her leadership skills blossomed further at Eastridge Elementary School, where she served as Dean of Students and then Assistant Principal.
