Tabitha Jackson, Family Engagement Liaison District Facilitator
Parent-teacher conferences are an important opportunity to support your child’s success. You and your child’s teacher share the same goal: to see your student learn, grow, and do their best.
You know your child best, while their teacher sees how they learn and engage at school. When families and teachers come together, they create a strong support team for every student.

To further support this collaboration, we have scheduled our District-wide Parent/Caregiver-Teacher Conferences for the evening of Thursday, October 1st, and the morning of Friday, October 2nd. Please note that there will be no school for students on Friday, October 2nd, to ensure ample time for parents/caregivers and teachers to meet. We ask our schools to have 100% parent / teacher participation. Attached here is the 2026-2027 school year calendar.
Before the Conference
Taking a few minutes to prepare can help you get the most out of your conference.
Sign up for a conference time with your child’s teacher.
Talk with your child
about what they enjoy, what feels hard, and any questions they may have.
Write down your questions
so you are prepared. Conference time can go quickly.
Think about what you want the teacher to know.
Share strengths, challenges, learning habits, or anything happening at home.
Ask for an interpreter if you need one.
Contact your child’s teacher before the conference so an interpreter can be there with you.
Not Sure What to Ask?
Start with the questions that are most important to you and your child.
What are my child’s strengths?
What areas does my child need more help with?
Is my child learning what is expected for their grade level?
How is my child doing in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies?
How are my child’s grades decided?
Does my child take part in classroom activities and discussions?
How is my child doing socially? Do they have friends and get along with other students?
Are there any tests or assessments I should know about this year?
What can I do at home to support my child’s learning?
Is there anything I can share about my child at home that would help you better support them?
Leave With a Plan
Before the conference ends, make sure you understand the next steps.
You don’t need to leave with a long list. One or two simple goals can help connect what your child is learning at school with what you can support at home.
Your presence matters. Your questions matter.
Your knowledge of your child matters. Your voice matters.
