Clubs and school organizations are formed at Stonybrook Intermediate Academy as student interest develops. Listed below are current clubs and orgnizations with a brief description of each one. Students should listen for intercom announcements concerning organizational meetings.
Robotics Club is a competitive academic STEM activity that consists of two player teams competing in multiple events. The students build a VEX robot and then take it to competition!
Beautiful SIA - This groups of student volunteers work closely with the adult committee to make SIA Beautiful both inside the school and outside of the school.
STEP- This all female group is a step group performing step routines and supporting healthy lifestyle. Girls meet after school with a coach and this results in an all school demonstration of their step skills
MATH Bowl - This group competes at the state competition for "Math Bowl" Students work to increase their competition skills and work on a variety of math skills.
Academic Pursuit is a competitive academic game that consists of two teams of at least five players on each team. Academic Pursuit is a mixture of trivia and The Brain Game on WTHR. The students are asked questions over several different categories such as science, history, bible, math, literature, grammar, current events and many more. The first contestant to buzz in with the correct answer earns a point for his or her team. Each grade level competes separately with its own coach. If you like trivia, then you will love Academic Pursuit!
The Art Club is an organization at Stonybrook Intermediate Academy for students who enjoy creating and observing art. Through a variety of activities students will be able to express themselves.
African Drums - The African Drums organization at Stonybrook Intermediate Academy for students who enjoy creating and observing drum performances. Expression through music is focused on in this club
Choir Club - The mission for Stonybrook Intermediate Academy's Chior club is to experience music as a team. Students perform at events and for peers and parents.
Student Council is an organization conducted by student leaders and supervised by adult sponsors. The purpose of Student Council is to provide leadership, and to serve the student body, the school, and the community. Student Council at Stonybrook Intermediate Academy is the students' voice in our school.
Boys and Girls Club - Provided by a grant, the Boys and Girls school of America runs an after school program that includes tutoring, mentoring and activies to SIA students.
SAVE CLUB - The SAVE program engages students in a variety of activities that help to build safer schools and communities. Key program components include school and community crime prevention, conflict management and service projects. The club also offers opportunities for students to develop new friendships and build leadership skills while interacting with peers in a positive setting. The club will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. beginning Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Snacks and light meals will be provided at each meeting.
Tutoring Club - Students work with teachers to finish homework as well as get help on specific concerns or questions.
